It is often emphasized that there are different forms of antisemitism, the most brutal one being the racial antisemtism. Racial antisemitism bases itself on the prejudice that Jews are an inferior race due to their biological differences. However, the rise of Nazism was not their only concern, since they were also faced with numerous immigration restrictions from other Western countries. The construction of a Jewish state in Palestine by the Zionist movement arose as the only possible solution to the aforementioned problems. For the Jewish community, immigrating to Palestine meant escaping persecution and death. Unfortunately, many failed to immigrate because of a myriad of both political and organizational constraints. Zionist movement became the dominant political stream in the 20thcentury as a response to antisemitic pressure. This movement, although ideologically inconsistent, maintained its common goal of constructing an independent country, which was in the end realized with the establishment of Israel. The path to an independent country was difficult and required militaryorganization, which protected the Jewish community in Palestine, welcomed Jewish refugees, and was of major importance for the construction of Israel. | Ključne besede: | antisemitism, zionism, jewish political organizations, jewish military organizations |
